Changes to Goat Road junction application

Planning Application 23/P0897

In April last year, an application was submitted to Merton Council for improvements to Willow Lane Business Park and Goat Road Junction.

As Goat Road is on the boundary of Merton and Sutton Boroughs, both councils have be involved. In the new application, the developer says that both councils prefer a controlled junction instead of a roundabout.

We have asked Sutton Council why, as concerned that this could have a negative impact on traffic flow, which we have already seen with the lights in Hackbridge by the station. We did also have concern about the previous scheme with zebra crossings being too close to the roundabout, however the new scheme makes it more onerous for pedestrian needing to use two staggered controlled crossing to cross one road.
