Culvers Lodge has been put forward for local listing by Sutton Council at a meeting on 14 October 2014.
Background
Culvers Lodge was built between 1868 and 1895 and is located on the corner of Medland Close and London Road.
It used to be the entrance lodge to the Culvers Estate owned by John Peter Gassiot Junior. The Gassiots were famous wine merchants who founded Martinez Gassiot & Co.
Now owned by Sutton Council, it is the last remaining building which links Hackbridge to the Culvers Estate and includes original features such as stained glass windows.
If you would like to know more about the building, please visit: The Friends of Honeywood Museum webpage.
Thank you
Many of you will be aware of the hard work by members of the NDG, and we would especially like to thank Francesca Bellucci and Bob Steel for all their efforts and perseverance in raising the profile of Culvers Lodge and we look forward to hearing the outcome of the listing later in the year.
