It has been a busy year for the group and we finally got our Neighbourhood Plan to the pre-submisson stage and enjoyed consulting with stakeholders, residents and local businesses. We have spent lots of time reading through the feedback and altering our plan where necessary.
However, it has been a disappointing year as far as development sites are concerned with Felnex getting planning permission on 8 September; Wandle Valley Trading Estate and Mill Green Business Park both approved on 30 November.
We have been involved in looking at plans, attending planning meetings, writing letters and suggesting improvements but they are falling on deaf ears. We are concerned that Sutton Council are approving all planning applications and not looking at the bigger picture of whether Hackbridge and the current infrastructure can cope with 1,000+ new homes, let alone how it will affect existing residents.
We will start 2017 on a positive note by submitting our plan for a screening process by Sutton Council to see whether we require a Strategic Environmental Assessment, before we can formally submit it to them.
