Please click to support a replacement for a new Hackbridge railway bridge.
The Irrigation and 100 Acre bridges are both slated for demolition by Network Rail on 25th and 26th February 2017. This is despite over 1000 people signing a petition raised by the Wandle Valley Forum and NDG to save them. Network Rail has refused to meet to discuss the issue and Sutton Council has determined the bridges are not one of its priorities.
Our attention is now turning to the future and we are asking Sutton Council Leader Ruth Dombey to support construction of a replacement bridge. Sign our petition above.
One thing is certain – any sensible plans for future public access to the vast area of open space between Beddington Park and Mitcham Common and in the heart of the Wandle Valley Regional Park are going to need better access over the railway. Sutton Council is already building a new school right next to where a bridge will be needed. We believe a replacement bridge to be a fitting investment for Wandle Valley Regional Park.
