Consultation on re-designation of neighbourhood forum & boundary area

Under the Localism Act 2011 communities have the power to prepare neighbourhood plans for their area. Once adopted a neighbourhood plan will become part of the Local Plan for Sutton and used in the formal determination of planning applications.  In September 2012 the council’s Housing, Economy and Business Committee formally designated the Hackbridge and Beddington Corner neighbourhood area and neighbourhood forum for the purposes of preparing a neighbourhood plan. Both these designations have a 5-year lifespan so expire in September 2017.

As such notice is hereby given that Sutton Council has received applications from the ‘Hackbridge and Beddington Corner Neighbourhood Development Group’, in accordance with Part 2 and 3 of the Neighbourhood Planning (General) Regulations 2012 (as amended), for re-designation of: (a) a ‘neighbourhood area’; and (b) a ‘neighbourhood forum’.  The Council is seeking views on both these applications from 28th July 2017 to 8th September 2017.

The neighbourhood area application submitted by the Hackbridge and Beddington Corner Neighbourhood Development Group is identical to the the boundary that was designated in September 2012. Representations should consider whether the neighbourhood area and the neighbourhood forum are appropriate to be re-designated.

Copies of the applications are available for inspection on the Council’s website (please click here: Neighbourhood Area and Forum Applications) and at the locations below for a period of 6 weeks from 28th July 2017 to 8th September 2017.
